Daimon-Ryu Budokai Yudansha Society
The Daimon-Ryu Budokai Yudansha Society was first established as a means of recording Black Belt promoted students solely in the immediate Daimon-Ryu Budokai Yudansha family. The view of the Daimon-Ryu Budokai Yudansha Society has always been that the forging of the mind, body and spirit in the crucible of sincere, focused martial arts training would help to bring about a person of honest and abiding character. This person would continue to dedicate themselves to the furthering of their personal growth and willingly commit their individual efforts towards contributing to the uplifting of society. Armed with this resolve the warrior faces into the challenges of the world about them with justice, ethical integrity, righteousness, honor, love and compassion for others.
Attributes of a perspective candidate would include:
The official establishment of the Daimon-Ryu Budokai Yudansha Society began with the transfer of headship of the Munen-Ryu Budokai (est. Dec. 12, 1984) to Darrell Goen in addition to his promotion to Yondan, 4th Degree Black Belt in Munen-Ryu Karate-Do during a ceremony performed at the American Karate Academy, Ashland, Oregon on May 23, 1994. This established the Chiisai (little) Munen-Ryu branch of succession and thereby became Spellman Sensei's successor to the Munen-Ryu system. The first Daimon-Ryu Budokai certificates were awarded to members of the Daimon-Ryu Budokai Jujitsu students at the American Karate Academy in Ashland, Oregon on July 14, 1994 and were solely Kyu (colored belt ranks below Black Belt) level certificates.
The first issuance of Yudansha certification in the Daimon-Ryu Budokai Yudansha Society began with #001 James Tong, Jr. Godan(5) - Daimon-Ryu Kenpo Karate 9/25/1994.
The current listings directly under Thomas Spellman and the Ukinju-Ryu Family Note: Beginning December 3, 2013 the second phase of alignment with Sensei's White and Spellman's vision created the necessity to retire the Okuma-Ha name in favor of adopting the Ukinju-Ryu title for all further promotions within the Spellman family lineage. Phase three was the amalgamation of the separate style headings of karate-do, Kenpo Karate, jujitsu under a collective heading listed as Ukinju-Ryu Budo starting January 1, 2015 thereby reuniting them as a single body of knowledge circa 1991.
